The Management Club of Jaffna holds successful 2nd AGM, charts course for continued growth

The Management Club of Jaffna (TMC Jaffna) successfully convened its 2nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) on 22 March 2024 at 6.30pm at J Hotels. The AGM served as a key platform for members to review the past year’s activities, achievements, and challenges, while collaboratively shaping the Club’s strategic direction for the coming year.



Distinguished guest underscores importance of regional chapter

The event was graced by the presence of The Management Club Board of Management (BOM) President Kaushal Rajapaksa. Kaushal Rajapaksa’s attendance underscored the national organisation’s recognition of TMC Jaffna’s significant contributions to fostering professional management practices in the Northern Province. This participation further solidified the vital connection between the regional chapter and the national body, promoting a sense of unity and shared purpose.



Reviewing achievements; charting the future

The outgoing Chairman Rev. N. Jameson Gnanaponrajah presented a comprehensive report detailing the Club’s accomplishments over the past year. The report highlighted a series of successful events designed to equip members with valuable knowledge and professional development opportunities. These events included:

  • Latest Tax Reform conducted by KPMG Principal – Tax and Regulatory Rifka Ziyard - (9 August 2023)
  • Time Management - Myths and Mysteries by The Management Club Pioneer Chairman Jude M. Joseph - (28 August 2023)
  • Unlocking Prosperity: The Visionary Greater Jaffna Development Plan 2033 - Urban Development Authority @ University of Jaffna - (11 October 2023)
  • Resume Writing Workshop at University of Jaffna - (2 December 2023)
  • Year End Get Together of The Management Club Jaffna - (13 December 2023)
  • “My Career Campus” - Rajenthira Thiyagarajah - (19 January 2024)
  • Leading for Success seminar - Bernard Sinniah (Wednesday, 6 March 2024)

Members actively engaged in discussions, evaluating these past achievements and addressing any challenges encountered. This collaborative exchange of ideas proved instrumental in charting a course for future endeavours. Members also had the opportunity to vote on proposals for the upcoming year, ensuring their voices were heard in shaping the organisation’s strategic direction.

Following a democratic election process, the AGM resulted in the appointment of a new team of office bearers to lead TMC Jaffna for the coming year.

Charting the course ahead: new chairman’s address

I am honoured to be elected as the new Chairman of TMC Jaffna. In the coming year, we will strive to build on the strong foundation laid by the outgoing committee. We plan to introduce new initiatives to further enhance the value proposition for our members. Our focus will be on providing members with even more opportunities to develop their professional skills and knowledge, connect with industry peers, and contribute to the growth of the business community in Jaffna.
