The sun sets on a hard yet successful year for TMC and gives way for a new dawning.
The Management Club sets dates for its AGM on 19 August following a tough yet very successful year. The board of management is scheduled to meet on the 29th to finalise the proceedings and an announcement will be sent to members 14 days prior to the AGM. The AGM of TMC Mt. Lavinia will be held at 6 p.m. followed by TMC Colombo at 6:30 p.m. and the TMC board of management AGM at 7 p.m. The AGM will be held through teams’ online meetings this year considering the safety precautions of the membership.
Despite the challenges of the COVID pandemic last year The Management Club was able to organise an array of management development and social and networking events during the last year for its membership and also for the management profession.
The year started with TMC Colombo arranging a fellowship get-together for members enabling fellowship and interaction, followed by TMC Mt. Lavinia arranging Sri Lanka Night, a Sri Lankan themed dinner giving an opportunity for non-members to get to know and experience the benefits of TMC membership. Next was a joint online webinar with TMC and SLIM on ‘Approaches towards 2021’ followed by a webinar on mitigating cyber security risks in the face of a pandemic. Understanding the need to drive professionalism, TMC successfully conducted a workshop on social and business etiquette with many corporate participants attending the workshop.
Next was a webinar titled COVID-19 vaccination myth busters, arranged to clear myths surrounding vaccines, and finally a Cisco certificate online course was completed successfully on Cyber Security for non-IT managers to expand the knowledge of non-IT managers on how best to protect their organisations from cyber threats.
All in all, despite the difficulties and restrictions faced, The Management Club continued to forge forward its commitment to improve the quality of management and management interaction in Sri Lanka.
An MOU was signed with KPMG to provide joint management and leadership programs. TMC had a few brief meetings with KPMG to decide on the way forward and it is hopeful that notwithstanding the pandemic to implement some very current and relevant programs.
Free Lanka Trading Co. Ltd. became a partner of TMC providing an exclusive discount on its range of products and assistance towards some of TMC’s major events.
With the appointment of the new committees, TMC will continue to forge forward in the new year to drive and uplift management practices in Sri Lanka.
