TMC Negombo conducts event on ‘Managing Through Turbulence’ with Prof. Ajantha Dharmasiri

The Management Club of Negombo recently hosted an event with Professor Ajantha Dharmasiri, where a presentation was made by Prof. Dharmasiri on ‘Managing Through Turbulence’. 

The event focused on addressing the matter of the business environment being highly turbulent, hence, firms becoming more agile and innovative for their survival. Despite a few studies on business process agility and innovative capability, the event addressed the limited understanding of how agility and innovative capability impact firm performance in the context of the turbulent environment.

The event was held on 26 May at Camelot Beach Hotel, Negombo. The event was attended by around 30 participants, which included several members of The Management Club and other industry professionals.

Prof. Ajantha Dharmasiri has a rare combination of being a Chartered Manager, Chartered HR Professional and a Chartered Electrical Engineer. He is acclaimed as a conference speaker, corporate trainer, strategy consultant, author and an academic. He is the first home-grown Senior Professor in Management of the Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM), University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka and was a Director/Chairman of the Board of Management of it. He became the first Sri Lankan to lead both the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) – Sri Lanka Chapter and Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM). 

He is an Adjunct Professor at Price College of Business, University of Oklahoma. He was the editor of the pioneering Sri Lankan Journal of Management (SLJM). Being a Commonwealth AMDISA Doctoral Fellow Fulbright Postdoctoral Fellow, and a Commonwealth Postdoctoral Fellow, he is also an independent director of several boards. Prof. Dharmasiri likes to identify himself as one who transitioned from being an “Engineer of Electrical” to an “Engineer of Hearts and Minds.”
