TMC Member Speaks on ‘Bootstrapping yourself for success’ followed by fellowship evening

The inaugural event for 2022 for The Management Club (TMC) Colombo Chapter was held on 27 January at the Galadari Hotel. The TMC Members Speak event “Bootstrapping yourself for success” and subsequent quiz and fellowship event was conducted with the participation of members and interested distinguished participants.

The Management Club Colombo Chairman Dr. Pradeep Edward welcomed the audience and explained the importance of having this event. He said, “Members Speak offers a great opportunity for the TMC members to expose themselves and to improve the skills. This is a networking and skills development event that helps members in a different manner.” He also invited members to use the opportunity and join as a speaker at the future Members Speak sessions and next session will be in March. 

The resource person for the TMC Members Speak was Tharindu Wijetunga who is a multi-qualified finance professional with over 15 years of experience in different industries. He is the Chief Financial Officer of Ceylex Renewables Group, engaged in electricity generation from renewables sources such as hydro, solar and wind power. 

Discussion on bootstrapping for success was discussed under two categories firstly professional career and then the personal success. Techniques and presenting unique selling point of ones` personal qualities to align with business and personal objectives were some of the key takeaways from the session. At the Q&A session at the end of the presentation the audience was intrigued and discussed many aspects including developing Grit and its significance in one’s personal and professional success.

Subsequent to the lively discussions it was time for a rapid fire quiz session where two teams were declared joint winners of the quiz, followed by fellowship and networking.
