The Management Club (TMC) Colombo marked a momentous occasion with the successful hosting of its 20th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Tuesday, 22 July, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ebony Hall, Cinnamon Grand Hotel, Colombo.

This landmark event, chaired by Dr. Pradeep Edward who commenced the AGM, officially marked the conclusion of his tenure as Chairman for the financial year 2024/2025.

Following the conclusion of Dr. Edward’s term as Chairman, Pro Tem Chairman Fayaz Saleem addressed the audience with a significant message, introducing the new Chairperson of TMC Colombo.

In a historic and inspiring moment, Duneeshya Bogoda was appointed as the new Chairperson, becoming the first-ever female Chairperson in the history of TMC Colombo—a milestone that reflects the Club’s progressive and inclusive vision for the future. In her first act of leadership, Bogoda formally proposed her Executive Committee and Subcommittee Members, receiving the endorsement of the members present.

During his address, Dr. Edward expressed his deep appreciation to the outgoing Executive Committee for their dedication and support throughout his tenure. He extended his heartfelt wishes to Bogoda and the newly appointed team, voicing confidence in their ability to take the Club forward with strength and vision. As a gesture of gratitude and recognition, the Executive Committee of TMC Colombo presented a token of appreciation to Dr. Edward for his exceptional service and leadership as Chairman over the past five years.

Taking the stage for her first official address, incoming Chairperson Bogoda outlined an ambitious and forward-thinking plan for the year ahead. She announced the introduction of a Power Breakfast Series aimed at promoting professional development and networking among CEOs and Executives. She also revealed plans for launching a CEO Forum and Way Forward Series, designed to foster meaningful conversations through expert panel discussions. Furthermore, a new Management Training Program under the Training and Development pillar is set to enhance the leadership capacity of the Club’s membership.

Bogoda emphasised the importance of increasing the Club’s visibility and presence in the corporate sector through a focused membership drive. She encouraged current members to introduce new professionals to TMC and welcomed corporate sponsors to join hands with the Club in supporting its impactful initiatives. She also highlighted the revival of the “Member Speaks” program, aimed at helping members develop their presentation skills while creating a platform for sharing knowledge.

Bogoda announced that a Members’ Evening would be held monthly to encourage deeper connections and regular engagement within the membership. She further outlined plans for a Bowling Fundraiser to support Club activities and announced a Christmas Party to provide an opportunity for socialising and celebration. In alignment with the Club’s values of social responsibility, she introduced upcoming CSR projects focused on empowering schoolchildren by supporting their education, knowledge, and skills development. A TMC Awards Night will also be hosted to recognise and honour the contributions of members who have gone above and beyond in service to the Club.

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Hony. Secretary Shiwanthie Wijesuriya, who expressed gratitude to all members present for attending the AGM and for their unwavering support. She also extended appreciation to the event organisers, Cinnamon Grand Hotel, and all service providers for their contributions in making the evening a success.

Following the formal proceedings, members were invited to a fellowship gathering, where they celebrated the milestones of the evening and shared in the excitement of what lies ahead. With renewed leadership, a compelling vision, and a renewed commitment to excellence, The Management Club Colombo is poised to continue its legacy of empowering managers and professionals across Sri Lanka.
