 Sri Lanka in crisis

  • The way forward

The Management Club, more commonly known as TMC, is proud and privileged to have in their midst one of Sri Lanka’s experts in economics Dr. Harsha De Silva to address the members and the public on the 12 July at 6 p.m. at TMC’s Host Hotel Galadari, Colombo. Dr. De Silva has a Ph.D. from the University of Missouri and has been the Chief Economist and Treasurer of a Sri Lankan Bank, He co-founded Sri Lanka’s largest market and social research Agency... Neilson Lanka. In addition, he has worked in over 20 countries as an International Consultant, for the World Bank, ADB and UNDP.

Today, more than ever before, Managers must know, where we are in the Economic sense! So much is being said in different forums, of the state of the Country, most Managers are at sea... What is the country’s financial health? When did it start happening, who was responsible, what are the true facts and figures? What are the ramifications and implications in the short and long term, is there a “way forward”?

In the current context, would the Managers role change? If so, how? How would it change?

Managing in critical times may differ from managing in normal times? How would it differ? Corporate strategies are not dissimilar to the strategies the Government must implement.

The depreciation of the rupee, and its short supply, further exacerbated by the serious depletion of foreign exchange, and extremely high inflation predicted to reach 70% will all have far-reaching implications for the Country and the Corporate sector... What could be the solutions in the short and medium term?

Much of these questions, and perhaps answers may be well elaborated by Dr. Harsha De Silva. Limited seats of 50 have been arranged to enable a healthy exchange of views after his presentation.
