Sri Lanka’s Young Up and Coming Fashion Designer finalists selected

Grand finale to be held on 22 June

One of the most anticipated fashion designer competitions in the country, Zainab Ammarah’s ‘Up and Coming Fashion Designer of the Year 2014’ held its semi finals at the Mt. Lavinia hotel recently.

Considered as a platform for raw talent, in its sixth consecutive occasion this year, received a record breaking 300 entries of which 90 were chosen for the quarter finals, and 65 for the semi finals leading to 24 entries for the finals. The 65 semi finalists were put in to the acid test when they were interviewed by a distinguished judge board who are successful industry leaders within their respective professions. The grand finale will take place on 22 June from 7 p.m. onwards at Mt. Lavinia Hotel. Founder and Organiser Zainab Ammarah commenting about the grand finale said: “The growing number of talented fashion designers gave us no choice but to select 24 outstanding individuals this time. The stage is set for Sri Lanka to witness creative talent expressing their uniqueness in one runway. It took more than five hours of stringent one-on-one interviews to finally select the best talent this year.” The event title sponsor is AnationZ, a clothing brand with a distinct proposition.
