Power of Play presents weekend of creativity and culture

With the school holidays in full swing, Sulochana Dissanayake – Founder and Artistic Director of contemporary puppeteering company Power of Play, together with her team, are all set to present fun, interactive, creativity driven show for children (and those who are children at heart)! Mahadenamuththa’s Avurudu Ulella will happen at the MILK Bookstore, 44A, Horton Place Colombo 7 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Saturday 18 April. On 18 April at MILK Bookstore, celebrate Avurudu with Mahadenamuththa and his modern golayas! Learn interesting facts about the origins of this celebration, play traditional Avurudu games and enjoy a morning of interaction, friendship and fun! Performance and games will be conducted in both English and Sinhala. “We are so looking forward to Mahadenamuththa’s Avurudu Ulella! It’s a wonderful opportunity for children and adults alike to learn fascinating facts about the New Year and to enjoy not just a special performance from the wise man and his golayas, but also to play traditional games in an atmosphere that is completely friendly and non competitive with everyone getting an equal chance to participate, learn, have fun and let their imaginations run free,” explains Sulochana. “Participants are welcome to dress in traditional New Year attire to add to the festive nature of the event.” Mahadenamuththa’s Avurudu Ulella is priced at Rs. 1,000 per head.
