As the Lunar New Year arrived, Shangri-La Colombo welcomed the Year of the Horse with a celebration inspired by vitality, optimism, and the strength to move confidently toward new horizons.
Set against a backdrop of festive red - representing prosperity and good fortune - the occasion was enriched by meaningful traditional ceremonies that honoured heritage and ushered in auspicious beginnings.
The celebrations commenced with the symbolic Lion’s Eye-Dotting Ceremony, awakening the lion and inviting clarity and blessings for the year ahead. The vibrant lion dance that followed filled the space with movement and energy, culminating in the traditional gathering of the Ang Pao - a gesture believed to draw in prosperity and good fortune. Guests also took part in the lively Yee Shang Mixing Ceremony, tossing the symbolic ingredients high to welcome abundance, success, and collective fortune.
As curated festive delights were passed around, conversations flowed and connections were renewed. With shared toasts and meaningful moments, the celebration reflected a collective sense of hope and ambition. In true Shangri-La style, the Lunar New Year began with grace, energy, and renewed optimism for the journey ahead.
