This week, Vogue Jewellers marked the International Women’s Day, appreciating the value of women. From its very inception, Vogue Jewellers has always appreciated the value of women. Six decades ago, when Vogue Jewellers opened its doors to its customers, it’s founding Chairman; late Sarath Hemachandra broke the bounds of conventional jewellery designs. Due to her husband’s sudden illness, she faced the formidable task of caring for her young children while managing the family business. Today, as the Chairperson of Vogue, she continues to be a pillar of strength and source of wisdom to a large family of employees who she considers as her children. 

She is a much-admired female entrepreneur in Sri Lanka, who has not only been successful as the head of Sri Lanka’s most trusted jeweller – she is also a renowned social worker, engaged in numerous meritorious activities and making generous contributions to the needy. Chandra Hemachandra was also honoured as “Shasana Deepana and Deshakeerthi Shasanabhimani” for relentless social work she has carried out.

Samantha Hemachandra functioning as a Director oversees the communication aspects of Vogue Jewellers. Having joined the Board, she has proven to be a daring maverick trendsetter. A true strength for her husband, Managing Director Anura Hemachandra, she has contributed immensely for the progression of Vogue. With a good understanding of Sri Lankans’ purchasing habits and needs of jewellery, she realised the need to add value to 22 karat jewellery by introducing an investment oriented jewellery collection. As Sri Lanka’s most trusted jeweller for solid 22 karat gold, she introduced Sri Lanka’s first ever 22 karat branded jewellery collection – Vogue Tusker Collection. Inspired by the majestic casket bearer, Tusker Collection is for the women who want to make a bold statement. The items of this collection of masterpieces are of timeless value. 

Subsequently, further inspired by the chains of the casket bearing Tuskers and with a view of bringing to life Sri Lanka’s rich tradition of jewellery-making with a contemporary touch, she introduced the second volume – Vogue Tusker Truffle Chain Collection, in 22 karat gold. Both the above collections are patented. 

 Madara Hemachandra, representing the third generation of the Hemachandra family business functions as a Director and future of Vogue’s continuing legacy.
