Musical romantic drama ‘Cyrano’ in Lanka cinemas from today

Musical romantic drama ‘Cyrano’ will be screened in five Sri Lankan cinemas from today.

They are LSC – Liberty by Scope Cinemas, CCC – Colombo City Centre, PVR Colombo 2, KCC – Kandy City Centre and Majestic Superior Cinema.

Directed by Joe Wright and with a screenplay by Erica Schmidt, Cyrano is based on Schmidt’s 2018 stage musical of the same name, itself based on the 1897 Edmond Rostand play Cyrano de Bergerac. The film stars Peter Dinklage, Haley Bennett, Kelvin Harrison Jr., and Ben Mendelsohn.

Cyrano de Bergerac dazzles everyone with his ferocious wordplay and brilliant swordplay. However, he’s convinced his appearance renders him unworthy of the affections of the luminous Roxanne, a devoted friend who’s in love with someone else.

Cyrano was nominated for several awards, including a Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy and Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy (Dinklage) at the 79th Golden Globe Awards, four nominations at the 75th British Academy Film Awards and a Best Costume Design nod at the 94th Academy Awards.
