In an unprecedented culinary tribute to mothers across the nation, Mount Lavinia Hotel is set to transform Mother’s Day celebrations with its revolutionary “Adarei Amma” (“Love You Amma”) initiative—the first-ever crowd-sourced home-cooked meals menu in Sri Lanka’s hospitality history.

This Mother’s Day, the iconic “Maha Gedara” (Grand Home) of Sri Lanka’s hospitality scene invites citizens from across the island to share their mother’s signature dishes for a chance to have them featured at the special Mother’s Day Brunch on 11 May. The selected dishes will be personally prepared by legendary culinary master, Chef Publis Silva, whose decades of expertise has made him Sri Lanka’s beloved culinary guardian.

“Throughout my career, I have witnessed how a mother’s cooking carries not just flavours, but also her love, her history, and her wisdom,” said Chef Publis Silva. “I am deeply honoured to invite all Sri Lankans to share their mother’s special recipes with us. Tell us not just the ingredients, but the story behind each dish—how it comforted you, how it brought your family together. I will personally select the most touching entries and recreate these precious dishes at our Mother’s Day Brunch, allowing the world to taste your mother’s expressions of love.”

Mount Lavinia Hotel has long been affectionately known as the nation’s “Maha Gedara” due to its warm, homely atmosphere, unrivalled mastery of Sri Lankan cuisine, and the presence of Chef Publis, who has educated generations of Sri Lankans on authentic cooking techniques through his popular television programs.

Submissions will be accepted until 8 May 8. To participate, people can share their mother’s signature dish and the story behind it on social media with a video, static post, or status update by tagging the hotel’s page and including the hashtags #AdareiAmma and #MothersDayMLH.
