Moments of joy with Naomi Rajaratnam

Since 2000, Naomi Rajaratnam’s With My Feet has been presenting spirited and riveting dance productions. This year, she is back with ‘Absolute Joy’ on 8, 9, and 10 April at the Bishop’s College Auditorium.

Naomi’s most recent performances include Resurrection (2017) and Grace & Glory (2019) with Absolute Joy being the eighth production of its kind. 22 uniquely choreographed items will be staged featuring a diverse cast of trained dancers with some being international and award-winning performers. The show encompasses a range of eclectic genres; from Latin-American and Ballroom to Jazz, Hip-Hop, Oriental, Contemporary and more. 

Absolute Joy is a visual and artistic representation of ‘moments of joy.’ For centuries it has been proven that the benefits of joy include; a healthier lifestyle, enhanced immune system, reduction of stress and pain and greater longevity. The show’s distinctiveness lies in its aim to not only bring joy to the audience but also as a reminder to us that joy is often a choice. We all face hardships in this journey called life, but our ability to transcend it, focus on the good and be grateful for what we have, empowers us to be joyful in every season of our life. This sentiment is embodied in the lives of Naomi and her cast of exceptionally gifted dancers who have overcome many obstacles while maintaining their joy in order to make Absolute Joy a reality. 

One of Naomi’s unique traits includes her ability to be progressive in her creative vision, while maintaining the highest standards of technique and excellence. This aspect is very much present in Absolute Joy in terms of its breathtaking choreography, edgy music mashups, bedazzling costumes and creative stage sets. 

Absolute Joy is an artful curation of dance items that have been chosen to inspire and spark joy in anybody and everybody. Tickets are priced at Rs. 1,000 (balcony), Rs. 3,000, Rs. 4,000 and Rs. 5,000.
