Lakarcade, Sri Lanka’s premier luxury heritage retail store,  yesterday had the grand opening of its 8th showroom, situated within the prestigious Shangri-La Colombo.

This milestone opening marks Lakarcade’s third location in collaboration with the Shangri-La Group, joining its established outlets at One Galle Face (OGF) Mall and Shangri-La Hambantota. The strategic partnership highlights a shared commitment to delivering world-class retail experiences while highlighting Sri Lanka’s rich artistic legacy.

The opening was attended by Lakarcade Managing Director and CEO Anil Koswatte, Deputy Chairman Darup Peiris and Manjaree Peiris gracing the occasion as Chief Guests alongside Shangri-La Colombo General Manager Andreas Streiber as Guest of Honour.

At its core, Lakarcade’s mission is to create vital market linkages for rural Sri Lankan artisans, connecting authentic craftsmanship directly with international clientele and global travelers. By positioning traditional masterworks within premier hospitality settings, Lakarcade directly supports the tourism-allied economy, improves the livelihoods of artisan communities, and generates essential foreign exchange for Sri Lanka.

Lakarcade Managing Director and CEO Anil Koswatte said: “We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the management of Shangri-La for their ongoing partnership and shared vision. This expansion enables us to further amplify the global reach of our local craftsmen, offering guests from around the world an authentic piece of Sri Lankan heritage while uplifting the grassroots artisan economy.”

Shangri-La Colombo General Manager Andreas Streiber said: “On behalf of Shangri-La Colombo, it gives me great pleasure to welcome Lakarcade to our hotel community as they open their 8th showroom island-wide. At Shangri-La, we are dedicated to offering our international and local guests authentic cultural experiences.
