Interbrand-Daily FT IWD Forum on 7 April to showcase ‘EmbraceEquity’ at its best

  • Glittering night gala’s curtain raiser at Cinnamon Grand Oakroom to feature unique personalities on common stage to reinforce International Women’s Day 2023 theme

Once again Interbrand in association with the Daily FT will celebrate International Women’s Day (IWD) 2023, at a gala event on 7 April at the Oak Room of the Cinnamon Grand Hotel, commencing 7 p.m.

The strategic partner for this premiere event will once again be Mastercard, while corporate sponsors are Triumph, Sloggi, and Supreme Flora, with the Cinnamon Grand coming on board for the third consecutive year as Host Hotel.

“We are indebted to our partners for this event, many of whom have been with us consistently, and we hope they will continue the association with us in the years to come as well,” said Interbrand Sri Lanka and the Maldives Partner and Headlines PR Chairman Anusha David. 

The welcome address will be delivered by Head of Interbrand, India Ashish Mishra. 

This year’s curtain raiser, which is one with a difference, and is designed and choreographed by Brian Kerkoven, will see men and women walking the ramp, personifying themselves and their individuality and talking of how they #EMBRACE EQUITY in their personal and professional lives. 

Brian, the founder of the Brian Kerkoven Academy and BK Model Management, has established himself as a Designer and Choreographer of repute. He is also the National Director Sri Lanka for Miss Grand International, Supermodel International, Top Model of the World, Mister International, and Mister Global Teen. 

Walking the ramp will be a dazzling array of men and women, all of whom embody and practice Embracing Equity in their daily lives. 

Maud Meijboom-van Wel joined Heineken Lanka Ltd. as its Managing Director in 2021. With extensive exposure to both sales and marketing across multiple markets in Europe and Asia Pacific, Maud arrived in Sri Lanka from Singapore where she last served as Brand Director Asia Pacific and Global Communication Director for Heineken.

Devaan and Shanelle Hallock are both in the medical profession. Dr. Devaan Hallock works at Asiri Surgical’s Emergency Unit and strives to promote the greatest wealth which is the health of the human body through the practice of medicine. Shanelle is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and founder of the mindmanager.lk. 

Legal Eagles Ruven and Venuri Weerasinghe will definitely light up the ramp with their joie de vivre. Venuri, an Executive Assistant at J2 Ventures, is also an Attorney-at-Law, while husband Ruven has been practicing as an Attorney at Law for more than four years now and is completing his fifth year at the bar this coming July. 

British Sri Lankan Master Life Coach and artist Yasodhara Pathanjali, has graced the covers of many a magazine. A hands-on, home schooling mum of three, she is a social media influencer and activist, and a passionate advocate of equality and justice for all. 

Master hairdresser and stylist Gerald Solomons, is a household name who is known to have magic in his fingertips! A consummate professional and perfectionist in all he does, his salon Chagall is known for its eclectic style and passion for excellence.

Rosanna Flamer-Caldera, Founder and Executive Director of Equal Ground, the oldest LGBTIQ advocacy organisation in Sri Lanka, is no stranger to the travails of life and has consistently fought her cause with dedication and integrity. 

Tarja de Silva and husband Alberto are Co-Founders of T&A Fitness. Alberto is a Spanish personal trainer qualified in the UK, while Tarja, a professional ballroom dancer has been dancing since the age of 11. They both run regular classes at T&A fitness, while Alberto hosts special collaborative spin events in Colombo. 

Soraya De Zoysa, Director Silvacos, Sothys Sri Lanka and The Estheti Centre, once again is an established name and a professional par excellence in her field. 

Trail blazing fashion designer Kamil Hewawitharana whose label Limak by Kamil, is a brand which has been showcased at CFW for the last few years, has showcased internationally at Expo Dubai, Dubai Fashion Week, Rome, London, New York, GICW in Delhi, Luxor, and Pune.

Founders of Resort Wear brand Rum Punch, Rukshi and Binara Seneviratne, are once again responsible for having put Sri Lanka on the map with their novel and contemporary designs. Rukshi and husband Binara are hungry for success and constantly seek opportunities to grow their knowledge and experience. 

Popular Model and make-up artiste Saji Darke has graced the pages of some of the most popular magazines and is much sought after. 

Gender fluid model Shan, has modelled for brands such as Lois London, KUR New York and Jean London, and is the founder and designer of the “Oshun Collection” of jewellery.

Songbird and fitness queen Tanuja and husband Hasitha Raymond, the team behind Kinetic Fitness, will also walk the ramp, embodying equity. They work with clients from all around the world and are advocates of the fact that health and wellness is something that should be available to everyone! 

Tanuja will render the opening song, once again one of empowerment, while Tarja and her partner Bharatha who have been dancing together for over 10 years will perform a dance choreographed very specially for Women’s Day. 

A thought-provoking panel discussion moderated by Daily FT Editor Nisthar Cassim, featuring women leaders in different professions and spheres, will shed light on many women’s issues.
