Hilton Colombo will be showcasing a variety of hummuses at Cafe Kai and Graze Kitchen during the holy month of Ramadan.  In addition to the special break-fast items, seven different flavours of hummus will be introduced to these restaurants for a month from 3 April.

Though the earliest mention of hummus dates back to Egypt during the 13th century, hummus is made all over the world. It is almost always the marriage of chickpeas, sesame paste, lemon juice and garlic and is absolutely healthy.  Low in saturated fat and high in fibre and protein, hummus also offers complex carbohydrates to make you feel satisfied and full.

“I think everybody likes hummus, and given its popularity, we came up with variations of hummus for our guests to experience,” commented Executive Chef Robert Mujagic.

Ranging from Rs. 1388 nett up to Rs. 2088 nett, the variety on offer at Café Kai will vary from veg to non-veg, namely; plain hummus, cashew hummus; chickpea ground with cashew nuts, tahini, garlic, lemon and finished with extra virgin olive oil, garam masala hummus; chickpea ground with garam masala, tahini, garlic, lemon and extra virgin olive oil, devilled vegetable hummus, curry leaf hummus, minced beef hummus; a creamy chickpea ground with spiced minced beef, tahini, garlic, lemon and extra virgin olive oil and sun dried tomato hummus, served with pita bread.

In addition to the international buffet at Graze Kitchen, an Arabic corner with Shawarma, kebabs and the various types of hummus, accompaniments and branded homemade breads will be featured on the dinner buffet. Also, a specially curated break-fast Iftar platter for two will be available as an a la carte dish.

For entertainment, diners will also be treated to a special Sand Art performance by a sand artist on 9, 10, 23 and 24 April.

An Iftar delivery menu consisting Arabic platters, cold and hot starters such as chicken/beef and mutton congee, crumbed curry rolls, Labneh yogurt; a Middle Eastern creamy plain yogurt sprinkled with olive oil, cucumber, coriander and fresh mint, mains like prawn, fish, mutton biryanis, desserts like Umm Ali and homemade Watallapam and Sawans for four which includes a choice of chicken or mutton biryani accompanied with delicious side dishes and Baklava and Moroccan Medjool Dates for  dessert, including homemade falooda, will be available on the website www.shop.hiltoncolombo1.com
