The Deanna School of Dancing proudly presents its much-awaited production of The Nutcracker, one of the world’s most celebrated and iconic ballets.

Taking place on 31 October, and the 1 and 2 November at Bishop’s College Auditorium from 6.30 pm onwards, the performance will bring together over 450 talented students, and will showcase the artistry, dedication, and elegance that define Sri Lanka’s leading ballet school.

Choreographed by Natalie and Natasha Jayasuriya, alongside the school’s renowned Founder Deanna Jayasuriya, and its teaching team, this year’s production is a creative adaptation of Tchaikovsky’s beloved ballet. The Nutcracker has long been revered for its technical brilliance, sweeping score and imaginative storytelling. The story follows the magical journey of a young girl whose enchanted toy soldier comes to life, as she navigates her way through a world of fantasy and wonder. From spirited party scenes, to dramatic battle sequences, iconic waltzes and classic ensembles, each performance features a love for dance and showmanship.

Deanna School of Dancing Principal Natasha Jayasuriya said: “This production is a celebration of ballet that will build both bonds and confidence in our students, some of whom are performing on-stage for the first-time. It’s an opportunity for our students — from the youngest to the most advanced — to experience being part of a beloved ballet, and a story that has captivated audiences the world-over.”

The Deanna School of Dancing has been a cornerstone of ballet education in Sri Lanka for decades, nurturing generations of dancers and inspiring excellence since it was founded in 1980. This year’s Nutcracker performance continues a proud tradition of uniting students, families, alumni and performing arts enthusiasts alike in a celebration of dance and movement.

Tickets are available at the Deanna School of Dancing.
