‘Christmas at Presidential Secretariat 2022’ is a gala Christmas fest, organised in joint collaboration with the Sri Lanka Army, Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, Office of the Chief of Defence staff and the Presidential Secretariat.

The opening ceremony of the event was held on 18 December under the patronage of President Ranil Wickremesinghe amongst a distinguished audience including Tourism and Lands Minister Harin Fernando, Labour and Foreign Employment Minister Manusha Nanayakkara and Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau Chairman Chalaka Gajabahu.

The festivities kicked off with Christmas carols performed by the Sri Lanka Army , and an excellent performance by the Army Bands, including a dog show.

The festivities take place from 4 p.m. onwards daily and will conclude on 23 December.

The Christmas cheer will be spread all over the Galle Face Green with a wide range of activities in store including Christmas choirs, an 80 feet tall Christmas tree, food stalls, live music and DJ music, vendor stalls for Christmas shopping and dog shows to keep everyone entertained.

The second day of the show (19th) included DJ music and a dog show done by the Police K9 Unit. The performance was enjoyed by both young and old alike. A variety of food stalls were available to provide visitors with sumptuous cuisine, and will provide their services till the ending day of the event.

The vendor stalls include handlooms and local products, offering a wide variety of options and varieties to select. It was interesting to see the crowd enjoying the festive vibes, seated on the green lawn of the Galle Face Green under the dazzling lights.

This event was arranged with the initiative of giving something exclusive for the festive season and lure in the tourists towards Sri Lanka for the winter season and give them an experience of enjoying the Sri Lankan way of celebrating the festive season.

Events such as these will spread a positive message about Sri Lanka and its gradual progress of the tourism industry, highlighting Sri Lanka as an important travel destination once more. All are welcome to come and enjoy this exclusive fest and enjoy the fun and activity especially prepared in store for the festive season.
