Oral history has it that during his time he developed a reputation for gift giving by slipping coins in other people’s shoes; which accounts for many of today’s Christmas traditions that involve hiding gifts in socks or
boots. Most interestingly, St. Nicholas of course is the namesake of the icon of this season – Santa Claus himself.
On this day, 6 December, The Kingsbury will be hosting a special buffet dinner commencing at 6.30 p.m. at the Harbour Court overlooking the shimmering ocean lit by the moon and the happy seasonal street lights. The buffet will continue well until midnight. It is undeniable that the Harbour Court at night is a truly magical treat to sight.
With the night-sky illuminating a boundlessly restless ocean carrying ships safely to the Colombo Harbour next door, the scenery through the glass confines of the dining area of the Harbour Court is a memorable spectacle that should not be missed. More so on St. Nicholas Day with its array of delectable cuisine served at the dinner buffet priced only at Rs. 3,100 nett per person, it is a night to be celebrated and shared with loved ones.
In the spirit of St. Nicholas Day, The Kingsbury will also hold a Mobile Medical and Eye Camp. The camp will treat patients above the age of 55 for eye care and other illnesses. This charity venture will take place through HelpAge Sri Lanka and is an attempt to share the joy of the season. This is a magnificent affair conducted by The Kingsbury who believe that all senior citizens have dedicated their services to the country. Therefore, The Kingsbury takes pride in tributing to these senior citizens of Sri Lanka, thanking them for their abiding service to the country on this special day.
