Apple delays white iPhone until next spring

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - Apple Inc said on Tuesday that it would delay release of its eagerly anticipated white iPhone again, this time until next spring. The latest version of the popular handset, the  , was released in June, but the white model was delayed first to July, then to the end of the year and now to early next year.



MySpace launching new version of website

SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - MySpace launched a new version of its Web site centred around music and entertainment, as the social networking company attempts to regain its former appeal in a market it helped create. MySpace Chief Executive Mike Jones said that News Corp-owned MySpace is no longer seeking to compete head-on with social networking company Facebook, and is recasting itself as a complimentary service that he hopes the 35-year-old-and-under crowd will flock to stay abreast of the hottest music and videos.



US court shuts down LimeWire music-sharing service

NEW YORK (Reuters) - A U.S. federal judge on Tuesday granted the music industry's request to shut down the popular LimeWire file-sharing service, which had been found liable for copyright infringement. The ruling by Judge Kimba Wood in Manhattan federal court halts one of the world's biggest services for letting consumers share music, movies and TV shows for free over the Internet.



Google pledges quest for tighter privacy controls

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Google Inc is "building stronger controls" to safeguard privacy, a senior executive said on Tuesday after the search engine giant's admission to inadvertently gathering emails and passwords across the globe. Peter Fleischer, Google's global privacy counsel, told reporters at a conference on Internet security he was "puzzled" that users had made scant use of privacy controls made available on the site months ago, and Google would try to improve them.
