Sysco LABS Engineering CoP hosts inaugural “Future of Engineering” event

Sysco LABS has recently announced that Sysco Technology’s Global Software Community of Practice (CoP) hosted TECHFUSION 25 at the Courtyard by Marriott in Colombo. This landmark event brought together experts from across the Sysco LABS organisation to share insights and best practices on what has become the company’s signature knowledge-sharing platform. Through regular sessions, open forums, and collaborative projects, the CoP creates a space where ideas flow freely, and expertise is amplified – fueling Sysco’s Recipe for Growth.

TECHFUSION 25 marked a major milestone for Sysco Technology as the first globally aligned Community of Practice event hosted from Sri Lanka, reinforcing the country’s growing role in Sysco’s global innovation engine. Designed to strengthen collaboration and elevate engineering excellence across the organisation, the event brought together more than 350 technologists and featured 50 presenters delivering sessions on best practices, tools, techniques, and emerging technologies—resulting in over 2,500 collective learning hours for colleagues.

“The inauguration of TECHFUSION 25 by the Sysco Global Software Community of Practice has firmly positioned Sysco LABS as Sysco’s benchmarked Global Innovation Center (GIC), where our engineering teams, together with Sysco’s global engineering experts, set the standard for technical excellence and enterprise-wide innovation,” said Sysco LABS Vice President – Engineering Rohana Kumara. “Our experts leverage cutting-edge technologies to transform multiple touchpoints across the foodservice journey. This event celebrates technical leadership by uniting our global engineering community to showcase innovations and engineering standards that are shaping the future of Sysco’s technology landscape.” 

The event featured a comprehensive lineup of sessions spanning modern software engineering practices, from agentic architectures and AI-driven development to mobile innovation, intelligent IDEs and cutting-edge frontend design.
