The Sri Lanka Association for Software and Services Companies (SLASSCOM) will be hosting ‘SLASSCOM AI ASIA Summit 2019’ for the second consecutive year. The summit will be held on 6 November from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Shangri-La, Colombo. 

Following a highly successful summit last year, more than 400 participants are expected to take part in this year’s summit. This year’s keynote speakers hail from the field of AI and will cover emerging AI Applications and latest trends in AI targeting businesses, academics and practitioners.

The eminent speaker list includes Dr. Chrisantha Fernando, Senior Research Scientist  at Google DeepMind who will speak on ‘The Minimal Turin Test and Minimal Agency,’ Dr. Romesh Ranawana, CTO at TENGRI UAV Ltd. on ‘The Future of Aerial Unmanned Intelligent Systems,’ Dr. Inga Strümke, Manager AI and Machine Learning at PwC Norway on ‘Responsible use of AI,’ Dr. Srinath Perera, Vice President – Research at WSO2 on ‘AI in the Real World, Challenges and Risks,’ Samith Gunasekara, Head of AI and Machine Learning at Boeing Analytx on ‘Powerful AI Trends to Drive Digital Transformation,’ Tone Therese Paulsen, Product Lead, (Nordics and Europe) at on ‘Beyond Bots – Conversational AI and Reinventing the use of Virtual Agents,’ Dr. Rukshan Batuwita, former Lead Data Scientist at Woolworths Group, Australia on ‘Getting Data Science/Machine Learning Right for Your Business’ and Dr. Rajitha Nawarathna, former imagineer at Walt Disney Imagineering, Walt Disney Company, USA on ‘Reading Audience Mind Through Vision in Movies’.

With the vision of transforming Sri Lanka into a hub for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (AI), SLASSCOM has been engaging in similar initiatives and this summit will further augment the access to the realm of AI and Data Science. The key speeches will carry a wealth of knowledge educating the participants of the current trends of IT sector, particularly AI as a pillar which needs to be further nurtured in all domains.
