  • High-level engagements with Government, financial services and technology stakeholders open pathways for Sri Lankan technology and business services companies in East Africa

As Sri Lanka’s technology and business services sector seeks to expand its international footprint, Kenya is emerging as a potential gateway to East Africa. The Sri Lanka Association for Software and Services Companies (SLASSCOM) successfully concluded a five-day business delegation to Nairobi recently, connecting Sri Lankan companies with Kenyan institutions, business leaders and prospective commercial partners.

Led by SLASSCOM Chairperson Sampath Jayasundara, the delegation brought together senior representatives from Sri Lankan technology and business services companies to assess market opportunities, showcase local industry capabilities and explore avenues for export growth, investment and cross-border collaboration.

The mission included engagements across Kenya’s public sector, private sector, financial services and technology ecosystem. The delegation engaged with a diverse range of organisations, including Bouer Limited, Invest Kenya, the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Equity Bank, the Murang’a County Government, TESPOK, CPF Cooperative Pension Fund and Cisco. A meeting with Murang’a County Governor Irungu Kang’ata was among the mission’s public-sector engagements.

The range of stakeholders provided an opportunity to explore potential areas of demand across financial services, enterprise technology, digital transformation and business process management. For Sri Lankan companies, this was an important step towards understanding local business requirements, identifying potential clients and partners, and assessing how their capabilities could support organisations in Kenya and the wider East African region.

The mission also had the Sri Lanka delegation participating in the Sri Lanka Expo Breakfast Meeting organised by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Kenya to promote the Expo 2027 happening in Colombo, which brought Sri Lankan and Kenyan business leaders together to discuss trade, investment and partnership opportunities.

SLASSCOM Chairperson Sampath Jayasundara said: “We appreciate the support and commitment extended by the Sri Lanka High Commission team in Kenya, particularly Acting High Commissioner Ruvini De Silva, in facilitating a productive program for our delegation. The engagements provided valuable insights into the Kenyan market and the potential for Sri Lankan technology and business services companies to expand their international reach.

“Kenya presents an opportunity for Sri Lankan companies to explore new export markets, showcase their capabilities and build partnerships across East Africa. Realising this potential will require a long-term commitment to understanding local market needs, engaging with industry stakeholders and developing mutually beneficial business relationships. SLASSCOM remains committed to supporting its member companies in exploring international markets and identifying opportunities to expand Sri Lanka’s technology and business services exports.”

The delegation included Covalent Systems Director Arjuna Amarasinghe, Global Frontiers Ltd. CEO and Director Dinuksha Devasurendra, hSenid Business Solutions PLC Director – Sales, South Asia, Middle East and Africa Hasitha Athawda, NCINGA Vice President – Sales Mudith Maddumarachchi, Sterling BPO Solutions Ltd. CEO Prasad Siriwardena, Gift2O Director Shehan Selvanayagam, and MillenniumIT ESP Associate Vice President – Infrastructure Solutions Udara Weerapperuma.

Lahana Irugalbandara led the coordination and facilitation of the delegation and its program in Nairobi through SLASSCOM’s Global Trade and Investment Forum.
