A networking event was held on 24 April at the Sri Lanka High Commission in Singapore to connect Sri Lankan IT companies with Sri Lankan-origin IT professionals based in Singapore.

The event aimed to bring Sri Lankan IT professionals onto one platform, enabling them to share ideas, learn from each other, and explore ways to support the upliftment of the IT industry in Sri Lanka.

In his opening remarks, High Commissioner Senarath Dissanayake emphasised that the IT sector is crucial to Sri Lanka’s economic growth, and it is acting as a significant foreign exchange earner and a major source of employment. He further mentioned that digital transformation is considered one of the key priorities of the Government of Sri Lanka to enhance efficiency and minimise corruption. This ambitious goal requires a collaborative effort from the Government, private sector, academia, and civil society.  The Sri Lankan-origin IT professionals in Singapore who are attached to reputed companies such as IBM, Oracle, and HP in Singapore shared their views and experiences at the event. They agreed to explore possibilities to support the Sri Lankan IT industry.

The representatives from Sri Lankan companies arrived in Singapore to participate in GITEX Asia 2025 – Asia’s largest and most global tech, start-up, and digital investments event, held from 23-25 April.
