NCINGA and Cisco recently concluded ‘Intelligent Automation’, at The Kingsbury Hotel Colombo, welcoming over 80 C-suite, senior professionals and key decision-makers.

Participants were from SLTMobitel, Dialog, Hutch and Airtel to share their insights about the future of, and the vital role of automation solutions in the transformation and future-readiness of Sri Lanka’s telecom industry.

It captured the importance of automation as one of the (at present) key emerging technology trends driving change in many business models globally, across several industries. The event spearheaded by NCINGA and Cisco acted as a springboard to discuss the importance of leveraging automation solutions in the telecom industry to deliver new services faster, and address evolving customer demands, and plans for business expansion.

With its extensive experience in empowering telecom companies to achieve growth through their technology solutions, NCINGA is a firm believer in intelligent automation.

NCINGA Engineering Senior Vice President Harindha Fernando said: “Every service provider will have its business challenges when implementing automation solutions; there is no one size that fits all. With the right approach and understanding of each challenge, we can build an intelligent service provider network. Such a network will provide telecom service providers with the architectural foundation to launch radically new product offerings, transform the customer experience, scale as required and manage capital expenditure through improved analytics.”

Cisco SP APJC Architecture Technical Solution Architect Vishal Madhav delved into how network consolidation functions are the base for automation, whereas Cisco Automation APJC Regional Leader Vivek Madan focused on an intelligent automation approach for 5G in the second session.

The panel discussion included SLTMobitel Group Chief Technology Officer Mangala Samarajeewa, Axiata Group Network Strategy and Planning Group Head Ranga Kariyawasam, as well as NCINGA Engineering Senior Vice President Harindha Fernando, Cisco Automation APJC Regional Leader Vivek Madan, and was moderated by NCINGA Executive Vice President and Group Director Vajira Wijesinghe.

The discussion explored topics such as gaining a competitive edge by adopting automation technologies, overcoming challenges, using industry-specific guidelines, skills and resource availability, building an automation-centric organisational culture and - particularly in Sri Lanka’s case - initiating automation projects during a time of economic constraints.

NCINGA’s technology solutions comprise of Automation and Integration as a Service, Network as a Service, Multi-cloud as a Service and Security and Blockchain as a Service.
