Just in time group (JIT) marked its 27th year as a leading conglomerate in the ICT industry, celebrating its anniversary on 6 June, 2023.

Budding from its humble origins, the JIT Group commenced operation in 1996 with just four enthusiastic individuals in a 100-square-foot basement office. They started operations with $1,000 as capital investment, marketing computers and laptops. With globally and locally renowned technology, JIT has shaped a pivotal change in building ecosystems and creating shared value by delivering essential and agile technology solutions.

Apart from the core business, JIT Group also believes that its long-term value creation is derived through the sustainable development of the communities they operate with and its environment. JIT continues to invest in meaningful social and environmental initiatives that create a positive impact. Quoting a few examples in this endeavour, JIT sponsored the development of a room as an initiative to support the ‘Suwa Arana’ project, a Place for Healing at the Paediatric Palliative Care Centre, at the Indira Trust Cancer Hospital early this year. Aid and support were provided to the less privileged due to unfortunate circumstances, such as, the Menhandy School for the Exceptional Child where JIT supported upgrading sanitary facilities,  sponsored the education of a well-deserving child affected by a disability, and established 20 reading rooms in orphanages and under privileged schools in rural areas, thereby working to create a better future for the youth.

The company is cautious of its carbon footprint on the environment and has made many changes including operational changes, energy consumption alternatives and promotion of daily life changes to employees that contribute to environmental sustainability, which has earned JIT the Carbon Neutral Certification in 2022.

This financial year the JIT group turns its focus on long term initiatives that coincide with nine of the sustainability goals set by the United Nations Development program. Commitment to sustainability has evolved to be part and parcel of the way of life at the Just in Time group.

On the basis of sustainable work culture, JIT maintains a good balance of employees from all walks of life, race and religion. Further, 40% of the senior management consists of women leaders and over 30% of employees have been part of the JIT family for well over 10 years even after the expansion and recruitment of new staff.

Just in Time Resources and Consultancy Services CEO Sherene Goonetilleke who began her career as an executive at JIT Group, said: “I have been fortunate from day one, as my career began with JIT. I have had the opportunity to work for an entity that cares and truly nurtures its employees to grow as a person in their career while providing equal opportunities regardless of gender or race, where all personnel are recognised solely on their performance and merit. Today, I have been given the responsibility to operate a company under my leadership where I’m determined to pass on my knowledge and empower my team to be able to lead wherever they may choose, someday.”

Just in Time Technologies CEO Chrishan Mendis said: “Reflecting on all the achievements and learning we gathered in these past 26 years, we proudly step into the 27th year as a leader, setting standards in the ever-evolving ICT industry. Commencing this business with merely four employees, today we are a much larger and vibrant team of skilled professionals. Our continued focus on emerging technological concepts, solutions and services, new trends in businesses and requirements, up-to-date in-house human resource talent via training and development, identification of skill gaps and new recruitment along with timely investments have kept the company agile and ahead of its competition to serve its clients with the most technologically advanced solutions and services. We are ready to take on the demands of a recovering economy in Sri Lanka and will bring necessary technology and opportunities for the youth to excel in the fields of Information Technology and Communication, creating a positive difference for our company and the country”.
