Industrial Development Board (IDB) and Bileeta have collaboratively launched a series of webinars aimed at helping businesses across all sectors in Sri Lanka take meaningful steps towards industry digital transformation.
Under the theme ‘”Digitally Transforming Sri Lanka’s Industries through ERP,” the webinars are designed to show how digital tools like Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems can help businesses run more efficiently. The webinars cover practical ways that ERP systems improve operations, provide real-time visibility, and use mobile technology, business intelligence, and AI to support smarter business decisions and keep companies competitive in local and global markets.
So far, two successful webinars have taken place, drawing participation from a diverse range of industries including manufacturing, retail, logistics, exports, and agriculture, highlighting the widespread interest in digital transformation across Sri Lanka.
During the webinars, Bileeta experts shared key insights. Bileeta CEO Sanji De Silva explained how ERP systems can address key industry challenges such as supply chain visibility, compliance with global standards, price competitiveness, and inventory optimisation, ultimately helping businesses respond faster and more effectively to global market demands.
Chief Technical Officer Sankka Weerasinghe shared how ERP has grown from back-office automation to a strategic tool of growth, highlighting the importance of mobility, real-time data, and AI in making quicker, better-informed decisions, regardless of the size of the business. He illustrated these points with client testimonials and case studies.
Head of Project Delivery Manupriya Wijayanga guided participants on how to select and implement the right ERP system, stressing the need for solutions that are user-friendly, scalable, industry-relevant and supported by features such as mobile access and artificial intelligence. He also shared how businesses can realise clear returns on investment (ROI) through ERP adoption, ranging from measurable benefits such as time and cost savings and inventory optimisation to broader advantages like faster decision-making and enhanced traceability across operations.
Senior Product Manager – Entution platform Ishara Sendapperuma demonstrated how a modern cloud-based ERP platform can help businesses scale with confidence, and ensure business continuity through workflow automation, mobile access and AI-driven insights.
Each webinar concluded with engaging Q&A sessions where participants shared challenges unique to their businesses. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive, indicating a strong appetite for digital transformation among Sri Lankan businesses. Participants were reminded that ERP isn’t just a system, it’s a long-term investment that helps businesses grow, stay agile, and compete on a global stage.
As Sri Lanka continues to push toward a digitally enabled economy, initiatives such as this webinar series can play an essential role in empowering the export and other industrial communities with the knowledge and tools needed to compete both locally and globally. IDB and Bileeta remain committed to supporting local businesses through innovation and knowledge sharing and helping organisations digitally transform, aiding in improved operational efficiency and effectiveness. This will ultimately result in overall organisational optimisation and increased profitability of these organisations.
