Great Place To Work Sri Lanka hosted its flagship celebration of workplace culture in the technology sector with the unveiling of the Best Workplaces in the Technology Industry 2025, under the powerful theme “Beyond the Code”. The event took place at Courtyard, Cinnamon Grand Colombo, gathering an audience of leading CXOs, senior executives, and HR professionals from across Sri Lanka’s vibrant tech ecosystem.

In today’s fast-paced technology landscape, innovation, scalability, and speed often dominate the headlines. Yet, behind every high-performing tech organisation lies an intangible asset that drives long-term success — a strong workplace culture. “Beyond the Code” celebrated organisations that go beyond technical brilliance, investing in people-first environments that nurture trust, inclusivity, and shared purpose.

The event opened with a compelling keynote by Dr. Dayan Rajapakse, titled “The Untold Algorithm: Culture-Driven Excellence”. Dr. Rajapakse unravelled how culture — often invisible yet omnipresent — serves as the ultimate differentiator in the technology sector. He emphasised that beyond coding expertise, it is trust, purpose, and people that enable companies to scale innovation, navigate disruption, and achieve lasting impact.

Following the keynote, Yehan Arsakularatne presented a detailed overview of the research methodology behind the Best Workplaces in the Technology Industry list. He explained how the Great Place To Work For All model evaluates organisations using two core components: the Trust Index Survey (measuring employee perceptions of trust, pride, and camaraderie) and the Culture Audit (assessing people practices and cultural frameworks). This rigorous evaluation ensures that only organisations meeting global benchmarks of workplace culture — while addressing local nuances — earn the prestigious recognition.

The highlight of the evening was a fireside chat featuring Dijital Team Managing Director Peter Ward, People and Culture Leader Nithya Subramaniam, and Head of Talent Acquisition Irshad Hussain. The panel shared first-hand insights into how culture powers their innovation journey — from navigating rapid growth with agility to embedding trust and collaboration into every sprint.

Their experiences reinforced the event’s central message: “In technology, it’s not just what we build that matters, but how we build it — and who we build it with”.
