Futurity, Sri Lanka’s first AI-native research and development studio, yesterday announced the successful close of its seed funding round. A joint venture between Invos Global and Cyaniq, the Futurity team set-out to introduce AI-enabled intelligence to everyday work, processes, teams and workplaces.

Guided by the belief that intelligence should be invisible, effortless, and supportive, Futurity focuses on building AI solutions that quietly integrate into workplace routines to eliminate operational friction. From navigating documents and simplifying knowledge access to enhancing customer engagement and automating mundane tasks, products engineered by Futurity are designed to elevate human potential rather than replace it.

Following extensive due diligence and multiple rounds of negotiation, Futurity has now secured seed funding from a distinguished consortium of private investors. The consortium is led by Jaywise Investments Director Altaf Jeevunjee, alongside Akbar Brothers Executive Director Mansoor Akbarally, and Ninehearts Group Managing Director Chamika Godamanna.

Commenting on the investment, Mansoor Akbarally stated, ‘Futurity is an exciting, young startup with a capable team, on a mission to humanise AI and make intelligence usable for everyday work, rather than an intimidating and distant possibility. In my view, this is exactly how we should be approaching AI and other emerging technologies, by looking past the hype and buzzwords to see the possibility for achieving real-world outcomes. I’m happy to have had the chance to support the young team and their vision.’

Futurity currently offers two flagship AI solutions in its portfolio. The first, Omni, is a document intelligence and knowledge orchestration solution designed to unlock the full potential of organisational knowledge through smart summarisation, contextual search, and content generation. The second product, Query is a web intelligence solution that enables AI-powered conversational navigation for websites, transforming static interfaces into interactive digital experiences that guide, inform and convert.

Futurity Management Team

With seed funding secured, Futurity also announced the formation of its inaugural Board of Directors. The newly appointed board is chaired by Mansoor Akbarally, with representation from both founding entities and the investor group: Samith Wijerathna (Cyaniq), Supun Kaluarachchi and Venuka Wijethunga (Invos Global) along with, Chamika Godamanna and Altaf Jeevunjee representing the investor consortium.

‘This is a dynamic, young team with a deep commitment to real-world innovation,’ said Ninehearts Group Managing Director Chamika Godamanna. ‘The strength of Futurity lies in its contextual intelligence and practical, seamless application of AI into business processes. We’re excited to contribute to its growth story as it scales its offerings locally and beyond.’

Looking ahead, Futurity plans to aggressively grow its footprint in the Sri Lankan market, offering solutions across a wide spectrum of use cases, from intelligent knowledge management systems for enterprises, to AI-powered e-commerce assistants, conversational websites, and next-generation digital reporting.

In addition to its flagship products, Futurity also provides bespoke AI transformation solutions, helping organisations across industries embed intelligence into their daily workflows through tailor-made automations.
