The Federation of Information Technology Industry Sri Lanka (FITIS) recently welcomed the Government’s launch of the ‘100 Days Digital’ program at the unveiling of INFOTEL 2025, reiterating its full commitment to support this ambitious initiative.
The program is designed to accelerate digital transformation across Government services, education, businesses, and startups, and to strengthen Sri Lanka’s journey towards a $ 15 billion digital economy by 2030.
FITIS Chairman Dr. Dayan Rajapakse said: “The FITIS welcomes the Government’s bold and visionary ‘100 Days Digital’ program. We pledge our full support to accelerate digital adoption, empower businesses and startups, enhance education, and strengthen Sri Lanka’s position on the global digital stage. Together, we will build a digitally empowered nation and move decisively towards a $ 15 billion digital economy by 2030.”
The FITIS emphasised that the ‘100 Days Digital’ initiative represents a historic moment for Sri Lanka. It is an opportunity to implement measurable digital initiatives with immediate results, while also laying a foundation for sustainable long-term growth. The Federation highlighted its active role in supporting the Government across multiple fronts to ensure the program delivers significant impact.
INFOTEL 2025 remains a central focus for the FITIS during this period. The event serves as the national ICT platform to showcase innovative solutions, foster collaboration between the Government, industry, and academia, and provide actionable insights for digital policy and implementation. INFOTEL 2025 will highlight emerging technologies, best practices, and successful digital adoption case studies, demonstrating how technology can improve governance, business productivity, and citizen services.
The Digital SME Program will empower small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to adopt technology solutions that enhance efficiency, scalability, and market competitiveness. The FITIS will provide SMEs with mentorship, training, and access to digital tools, ensuring that local businesses can compete effectively in global markets. This initiative is aimed at strengthening the SME ecosystem and generating high-value economic opportunities.
The Young Computer Scientists Program focuses on identifying and nurturing the next generation of ICT professionals. Through mentorship, workshops, and hands-on experience with emerging technologies, students are equipped with the skills, creativity, and problem-solving capabilities required for the 21st century digital economy. The FITIS aims to create a talent pipeline capable of driving innovation and supporting the nation’s digital ambitions.
The FITIS is also spearheading its Startup Program, which provides early-stage technology startups with guidance, networking opportunities, and access to resources. By fostering entrepreneurship and innovation, the program encourages new business creation, generates high-value jobs, and positions Sri Lanka as a hub for technology-driven solutions in the region.
The Digital Excellence Awards will celebrate outstanding achievements in technology adoption, innovation, governance, and education. These awards serve to recognise excellence, motivate continued innovation, and inspire individuals, companies, and institutions to leverage technology for national development.
The Federation’s Education Forum will focus on technology-enabled learning and digital skills development. By bringing together educators, policymakers, and industry leaders, the FITIS will help design strategies to enhance digital literacy, integrate technology into classrooms, and ensure students and teachers are prepared for future careers. This initiative is vital to creating a workforce capable of supporting Sri Lanka’s ambitious digital economy goals.
The FITIS will also strengthen international partnerships with organisations such as the Asia Pacific ICT Alliance (APICTA) and Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organisation (ASOCIO). These collaborations provide Sri Lankan companies, startups, and professionals opportunities to engage globally, share knowledge, attract investments, and showcase innovation on international platforms, while benchmarking local initiatives against global best practices.
Cybersecurity and data protection are central priorities for the FITIS. As the nation accelerates digital adoption, safeguarding citizen data and organisational information is crucial to maintaining trust and confidence in digital platforms. The FITIS will work closely with Government agencies, private sector partners, and educational institutions to implement robust cybersecurity frameworks and standards across all digital initiatives.
Public-private collaboration is a cornerstone of the FITIS’ approach during the ‘100 Days Digital’ program. By leveraging industry expertise, resources, and networks, the FITIS aims to ensure seamless implementation and measurable impact. Coordination with Ministries, academic institutions, startups, and international partners will create synergies that maximise the reach and sustainability of digital initiatives.
Dr. Rajapakse added: “This program is not just about 100 days; it is a national movement. Through INFOTEL, SME support, youth engagement, startup mentoring, education forums, excellence awards, and international partnerships, the FITIS is fully committed to ensuring that digital transformation reaches every corner of Sri Lanka and leaves a lasting legacy for generations to come.”
Through these efforts, the FITIS aims to accelerate digital adoption across multiple sectors, foster innovation, generate high-value jobs, and enhance Sri Lanka’s global competitiveness. By transforming ambition into tangible outcomes, the Federation ensures that the benefits of digitalisation are accessible to all citizens, enterprises, and institutions across the country.
The Federation’s pledge during INFOTEL 2025 reinforces its role as a key partner in Sri Lanka’s digital journey. By aligning industry expertise with national priorities, the FITIS aims to create a sustainable, inclusive, and globally competitive digital ecosystem. The ‘100 Days Digital’ program is expected to act as a catalyst for innovation, investment, and skills development, laying the groundwork for long-term economic growth and positioning Sri Lanka as a leader in the region’s digital economy.
With strategic investment, visionary leadership, and collaborative action, the FITIS believes that the ‘100 Days Digital’ program will mark a turning point in the nation’s digital transformation. The Federation remains committed to providing guidance, expertise, and unwavering support to ensure that Sri Lanka achieves its digital vision, creating a digitally empowered, inclusive, and prosperous future for all citizens.
