Epic Technology Group, the pioneer in digital transformation services in Sri Lanka, won an unprecedented 20 awards including the coveted ‘National Overall Gold Award’ at the recently concluded 23rd National ICT Awards 2021 (NBQSA).

Conducted by the Sri Lankan section of the BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT, the Overall Gold Award was presented to Epic for its ‘NEOS Digital Banking & Payment Suite’, a state-of-the-art mobile banking application developed for National Development Bank (NDB). This is the fourth time that Epic took home the coveted National Overall Gold Award while also winning the highest number of awards won by an organisation in the history of the competition. Epic also became the only company to win both the highest number of awards and the Overall Gold Award at the same event.

Displaying its technological prowess and dominance like in previous years, Epic took the Golds in Fintech, Digital Marketing/Advertising, Retail/Distribution and Marketing Solutions. Additionally, Epic also won six (06) silver awards in the Banking, Insurance & Finance, Retail & distribution, Fintech, Security Services, Marketplaces (including Smart Home) and Indigenous & Community Services sub-categories respectively.

Expressing his views, Epic Technology Group Founder and Executive Chairman Dr. Nayana Dehigama said: “In an era where challenges and uncertainties are immense, organisations including Epic have had to quickly adapt to many unexpected market dynamics of the pandemic. We were compelled to operate with a remote workforce. Amidst all these challenges created by the pandemic, we took some unique steps to keep our teams connected in a resourceful way, allowing our engineers to keep up the spirit of innovation and craft solutions for our clients to thrive in the ‘new normal’. These accolades affirm that commitment even amidst the unprecedented times. All the hard work put in at many levels to become the most trusted and innovative ICT solutions provider in Sri Lanka has clearly paid off. There are no substitutes for quality, experience and innovation.”

Commenting on their latest achievements, Managing Director/CEO and the chief architect of many award-winning solutions at Epic Lanka Viraj Mudalige said: “The response to the pandemic has been incredible and a reminder that innovation is often born out of necessity. In this context, our teams at Epic were all united by a common purpose that was producing innovative solutions to address some of the pressing challenges during a crisis. We came up with brand-new Fintech service offerings, of course, but we also repurposed our existing digital solutions in new and exciting ways that we did not anticipate prior to this crisis. The urgency of the pandemic helped expedite innovations and it unlocked the potential to be used in new use cases. Being there to witness the company win so many accolades for the hard work put in by all the talented engineers was an incredible experience.”

“These awards reflect our teams’ hard work, innovative thinking, and meticulous planning, all which plays a collective role in strengthening Epic’s position as Sri Lanka’s best and most trusted ICT solutions provider,” he commented further.

The National ICT Awards recognizes outstanding achievements of individuals and organisations in Sri Lanka who develop high-quality ICT products. It delivers a window to gain international recognition for local ICT products and services, improve their quality to meet international standards while identifying the talents of local software architects, and provide them with an opportunity to develop their skills in ICT. The Sri Lankan section of BCS  organised this gala awards ceremony since 1998 and nominates the national participants for the Asia Pacific ICT Awards (APICTA).

Chairman of BCS Sri Lanka section K.V Kuganathan said: “We at BCS have seen the progress of Epic over the last 23 years and what they have achieved locally and internationally. We have witnessed the innovation and creativity that Epic brought to the market in the banking and finance sectors. Epic is the first Sri Lankan company to win Gold at APICTA in the commercial category and has earned foreign exchange for the country by exporting its software services. The amount of IT jobs they have provided while empowering university students is commendable and much appreciated by the members of BCS Sri Lanka.”

The organisation also owns an ultra-modern office infrastructure, which houses a modern Research and Innovation Centre, software development and recreational facilities that enable employees to work and utilise their skills passionately and creatively.
