Dialog Axiata PLC Vice President of Enterprise Business and Large Enterprise Sales Navin Peiris announced the CSSL-Dialog Enterprise partnership to support for CSSL’s endeavours to trigger policy discourse on important reforms in the digital arena.

The second of CSSL Policy Dialogue ‘National Transformation through Digital ID’ is scheduled to be held as a panel discussion with key government policymakers and industry representatives. The event will be moderated by the prominent media personality and Editor-in-Chief of Daily Financial Times, Nisthar Cassim.

Commenting on the Policy Dialogue initiative, CSSL President Damith Hettihewa said, “CSSL Digital Policy Dialogue is an initiative under the ‘Contribute’ pillar of CSSL 2021 strategic plan which is aimed at catalysing urgent policy reforms discourse to accelerate digital transformation in the country and leverage unique industry 4.0 opportunity to achieve an inclusive and prosperous Sri Lanka.”

Hettihewa further said, “Our country has been trying to introduce Unique Digital ID since 1990s but we have not been able to introduce a Digital ID yet. This Government has prioritised the introduction of a Digital ID. As the apex professional association for the digital fraternity in the country, we thought it is important that we facilitate deliberations between ICT professionals, foreign domain experts with roll-out experience and industry stakeholders with the Sri Lankan key policymakers. We believe CSSL could positively ‘contribute’ this way to make the current endeavour to introduce digital ID becomes successful.”

Navin Peiris said, “Digitalisation of identity is a key enabler and a cornerstone of any country’s digital journey. Now more than ever everyone has understood the value of digital and the criticality of having secure, scalable systems, that enable both the Government and the private sector to provide services to citizens wherever they are. Many countries globally and in the region have already implemented or are in the process of implementing digital identity solutions, and therefore, Dialog Enterprise is proud to join hands with CSSL in sponsoring this timely discussion.”

Having established in 1976, the CSSL is the apex body for ICT professionals and the longest standing ICT association in the country. The CSSL is a member of the South East Asia Regional Computer Confederation (SEARCC), International Federation for Information Processing (IFIP) and provisional signatory to the Soul Accord, an internationally acclaimed degree accreditation program through which CSSL brings international standards on ICT related degrees to Sri Lanka.

The second edition of CSSL Policy Dialogue ‘National Transformation through Digital ID’ is supported by Daily FT as the Print and Digital Media Partner.
