CICRA Campus holds Annual Research Symposium; publishes Journal of Cyber Security

CICRA campus conducted the Annual Research Symposium in Cyber Security (ARSCS) in January 2023 at the Galadari Hotel, Colombo, and published the CICRA Campus Journal of Cyber Security. ARSCS 2023 received 53 submissions from over 95 authors.

After a comprehensive discussion and meticulous analysis by the reviewers, 10 submissions were accepted for publication under the cyber security track. Those papers are published by our undergraduate students from BSc (Hons) in Cyber Security, Wrexham Glyndwr University, UK, and postgraduate students from Executive Master of Science in Information Security, Asia e University, Malaysia. The CICRA Campus journal of cyber security is registered in the National Library and Documentation Service Board and selected research papers are published.

Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology Research and International Pro Vice-Chancellor Prof. Samantha Thelijjagoda honoured the event presenting himself as Guest of Honour, conveying his significant opinions about the research for adding new knowledge to the existing knowledge base with positive impacts to the society for the betterment of not only the country but also the world. 

He also suggested CICRA Campus to open these research papers for students from other universities as well.

Committee of the ARSCS 2023 consisted of multiple renowned professionals and academic bodies such as: Prof. Samantha Thelijjagoda designated as the Session Chair, University of Peradeniya Senior Lecturer and Sri Lanka Intellectual Property Consultant Attorney-at-Law Dr. Manjula Sandirigama designated as the Editor-in-Chief, Dr. Lakmal Rupasinghe designated as the Publication Chair, Anjali Gamage designated as the Publication Co-Chair, Group Director/CEO Boshan Dayaratne designated as the Program Chair, Group Executive Director Vasana Wickremasena designated as the Program Co-Chair of the Annual Research Symposium in Cyber Security (ARSCS) 2023.

ARSCS 2023 was solely organised by CICRA Campus where Nimesha Rajakaruna designated as the General Chair, Jeewanthi Fernando designated as the General Co-Chair and President, Chathumini Elvitigala designated as the Secretary, and Needra Rosary designated as the Student Counselor.

“The Cyber Security session was focused on machine learning, cybercrimes, frameworks, malware analysis, Web Applications, LAMP Stack Deployments, and secure e-commerce. We would like to believe that ARSCS 2023 had a great impact in society in terms of knowledge improvement and cyber security awareness. As cybercrime is prominent as one of the world’s most threatening and dangerous areas, clear awareness of cyber security holds utmost importance for survival from cyber-attacks” CICRA Campus Head of Academics General Chair Nimesha Rajakaurna.

“The intentions of the cyber security symposium organised by CICRA Campus is to give an opportunity initially for CICRA students and thereby expand to other universities and cyber security professionals. We have obtained the ISSN number for our Cyber Security Journal, and we will make this an annual event. We have also made plans to go global with our publications in the near future,” Group Director/CEO Boshan Dayaratne said.
