Slack has introduced Slack Code, a new way for teams to collaborate with AI agents on software development directly within Slack. As coding agents transform how individuals build software, Slack Code brings development out of private tabs and into a shared workspace where teams and agents can write, review, and ship code together.
The evolution of coding has moved from individual terminal-based development to AI-assisted building, creating a new opportunity for teams to collaborate with agents in a more connected way. Slack Code addresses the challenge of disconnected workflows, where conversations, context, and development activities often exist across separate tools. By bringing development into Slack, teams can maintain visibility, share knowledge, and build together using the context already available.
Slack Code creates dedicated code channels for specific coding sessions or projects, providing teams with a focused environment to collaborate with agents. Each code channel keeps development work organised, allowing teams to follow conversations, plans, code differences, and live previews through dedicated tabs. This gives everyone involved visibility into the work as it happens.
With Slack Code, teams can tag coding agents such as Claude Code, Devin, GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, and Vercel agents to begin development tasks. Agents can use existing context, propose solutions, create code, and support teams through reviews, feedback, and approvals before work is shipped. No specialised tools or separate workflows are required.
Code channels bring developers, product managers, designers, and non-technical teammates into the same shared workspace, making software development a collaborative activity. Instead of development happening through isolated sessions or private tools, teams can work together with agents while maintaining shared context throughout the process.
Slack Code includes project-based code channels, automatic channel creation and archiving, dedicated tabs for conversations and code reviews, code differences, live previews, and flexible APIs that allow organisations to customise how agents work within their workflows.
Built with Slack’s existing security model, permissions, and admin controls, agents operate securely while humans remain involved in important decisions. For high-stakes actions, such as moving code into production, agents can package their work for expert review and approval directly within the channel.
Slack Code is supported by an ecosystem of coding agents, including Anthropic’s Claude, Cognition’s Devin, GitHub’s Copilot, OpenAI’s ChatGPT, and Vercel’s agents. Available across Slack plans, the platform enables teams to transform AI-assisted development into a multiplayer experience where people and agents work together.
By bringing conversations, context, and coding workflows into one shared environment, Slack Code helps organisations move beyond individual AI productivity toward collaborative development, enabling teams to build software faster while keeping knowledge visible and accessible.
The platform creates a new approach to software development where AI agents become active collaborators within existing team workflows. With Slack Code, organisations can combine human creativity, shared context, and agent capabilities to create a more open, connected, and efficient way of building software. Teams can move from ideas to execution while ensuring development remains transparent, collaborative, and accessible across the organisation.
