Prof. Liyanage appointed to Singer Board

Prof. Uditha Liyanage has been appointed to the Board of Singer (Sri Lanka) Plc as an Independent Non Executive Director. He fills the casual vacancy created by the demise of Independent Non Executive Director Dr. G.C.B. Wijeyesinghe. Prof. Liyanage holds the position of Professor of Management Postgraduate Institute of Management, University of Sri Jayawardenapura and Adjunct Professor of Management of University of Canberra, Australia. He counts over 15 years experience in industry having held senior marketing management positions in three leading companies in Sri Lanka. He thereafter joined the academia and read for the doctoral program at the PIM of the University of Jayawardenapura where he has been the senior faculty member for marketing over the past 20 years. He was the Director of PIM and the Chairman of the Institute’s Board of Management. He also holds an MBA and is a Chartered Marketer, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), and the first Sri Lankan Honorary Fellow of the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing. He is also the first Sri Lankan Honorary Fellow of the Asia Marketing Federation. He is also on the Boards of Commercial Bank, DIMO, Chemanex and Ceylon Cold Stores. Following the new appointment, the Board of Singer (Sri Lanka) Plc comprises H.D.S. Amarasuriya (Chairman), H.A. Pieris (MD/CEO), A.M. de Silva Jayaratne, S. Kelegama, P.J. O Donnell (alternate M.P.A. Salgado), G.J. Walker (alternate M.H. Wijewardena), L.N.S.K. Samarasinghe (alternate to H.A. Peiris), J.J. Hyun (alternate V.G.K. Vidyaratne), U.P. Liyanage.
