Toastmasters International is a world leader in communication and leadership development, with a membership of more than 345,000. Members improve their speaking and leadership skills by attending one of the 15,900 clubs in 142 countries that make up Toastmasters International’s global network of meeting locations.

The world needs leaders. Leaders head families, coach teams, run businesses and mentor others. These leaders must not only accomplish, they must also communicate. By regularly giving speeches, gaining feedback, leading teams and guiding others to achieve their goals in a supportive atmosphere, leaders emerge from the Toastmasters program. Every Toastmasters journey begins with a single speech. During their journey, they learn to tell their stories. They listen and answer. They plan and lead. They give feedback and accept it. Through a community of learners, they find their path to leadership.

A dynamic FTZ Toastmaster member Anura Perera, currently Area Director Division ‘H’ Area 4, is forming a new club, the Kandana & Ja-Ela Toastmasters Club.

President Elect Perera said that 2014-2015 had been a very successful year for the club. It was placed second in DCP points in district 82 and achieved the Golden Gavel plus award and 88 other awards. Furthermore, the district had awarded him an award for the services to the Toastmasters fraternity in Sri Lanka.

Those who are working in the corporate sector or school-leavers who wish to enhance themselves by developing public speaking and leadership skills are welcome to join this new club.
