Governors’ Challenge Trophy for Global Commerce 2012 to be held next week

The winners and the defending champions of the prestigious the Governor’s challenge Trophy Quiz for Global Commerce 2011, Seylan Bank PLC,  handed over the trophy to the Central Bank Governor, Ajith Nivard Cabraal, as the 2012 event is scheduled to be held on 12 December at the Taj Samudra.

The defending champions Seylan Bank will compete with around 40 teams at this high standard quiz which had foreign central bank teams participating in 2011. This year too, public sector, private sector, individuals and schools, will take part in the quiz which will be conducted by the International Quizzing Association Sri Lanka Branch (IQASL), on behalf of the organising body Shippers’ Academy Colombo (SAC). The quiz master will be Ruwan Senanayake, a well known quizzing personality in Sri Lanka. The objective of the quiz is to highlight the importance of global commerce and related services as Sri Lanka, emerging as a global trading, logistics, shipping, aviation, knowledge and financial hub will have to improve its skills and knowledge base. The CBSL trophy is a symbol of knowledge development among the corporate and public sector to cater to the future service demands of global commerce.

The quiz itself will cover topics on global commerce and related service sector questions and will have an overall prize and other gifts worth nearly Rs. 500,000, making it one of the best rewarded quizzes in the country.
