Ceylinco Life’s Upamalika Ratnayake is Female ICT Leader of the Year

Ceylinco Life Chief Information Officer and Senior Deputy General Manager ICT Upamalika Ratnayake has been honoured as Sri Lanka’s ‘Female ICT Leader of the Year’ by the South East Asia Regional Computer Confederation (SEARCC), a forum of national information technology professional societies in the Asia Pacific region. The prestigious award was presented to Ratnayake at the 2013 SEARCC International Conference in Colombo by Minister of Technology, Research and Atomic Energy Patali Champika Ranawaka. Commenting on this achievement, Ceylinco Life Managing Director/CEO R. Renganathan said: “Upamalika Ratnayake has given leadership to many innovative and pioneering IT-related developments at Ceylinco Life, enabling the company to introduce numerous important value additions to Sri Lanka’s life insurance industry. We believe this award is a fitting tribute to her contributions to the field of ICT.” A Member of the Australian Computer Society and the British Computer Society and a Chartered IT Professional, Ratnayake counts nearly three decades of experience in the ICT industry. Her forte is information systems and IS audit. She has been with Ceylinco Life for 14 years and is credited, among others, with being the ‘live wire’ in the implementation of the company’s core Insurance policy administration software (Life Asia), and design and development of Ceylinco Life’s Auto Underwriting System (Ausys). The market leader in Sri Lanka’s life insurance sector since 2004, Ceylinco Life ended 2012 with premium income of Rs. 10.8 billion and a 29% share of the life insurance market. The company has deployed a sales team of nearly 5,000 and operates 247 branches, the country’s largest network of branches in the field of insurance.
