University of Southern Queensland’s most outstanding alumni honoured

The University of Southern Queensland Alumnus of the Year Awards 2021 was held to formally recognise outstanding USQ alumni for their achievements within their professional and personal lives and for being an inspiration to fellow alumni, current students and the community. 

Dhamitha Pathirana from the Sri Lanka Alumni Chapter of University of Southern Queensland received the award for Highly Commended Alumnus in Business and Enterprise at the award ceremony held on 28 October at Toowoomba, Southern Queensland Australia. 

Pathirana currently functions as the General Manager – Group Business Support and Planning at Hayleys Advantis Ltd. and has contributed to the Sri Lanka Alumni Chapter of University of Southern Queensland as Vice President Continuous Professional Development (CPD) since 2018. 

Pathirana is also a Fellow Member of CIM (UK), a Chartered Marketer, a Life Member of the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing and an Associate Member of the Australian Marketing Institute, and conducts marketing and corporate digital communications lectures for a range of tertiary institutions.

Rachel Downie was named the 2021 University of Southern Queensland Alumnus of the Year whereas Angus Murray was appointed as 2021 Young Alumnus of the Year. Eleven other outstanding alumni were also honoured at the event.
