The University of Moratuwa’s inaugural lectures series brings out the newly appointed professors to the public view.

The objective being to communicate and inspire with their research and societal impact with of course the intention of generating more interaction and positive connectivity. An inaugural lecture represents a significant milestone in a university academics career when one observes the practice elsewhere. The event celebrates their promotion to the rank of professor or other professorship at the university. University of Moratuwa, Faculty of Graduate Studies hosted this event as a public event. 

Two inaugural lectures were concluded at the University of Moratuwa recently. The 22nd lecture in the series was by Prof. Nalin de Silva of Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and he spoke on “Handling stresses : The intriguing similarities between humans and soils” in December. The 23rd lecture in the series was by Prof. Bandara Abeysinghe of Department of Earth Resources Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and he spoke on “A new dimension of the Sri Lankan mineral industry with critical metals industry including rare earth elements” in January.
