I joined AHRP's Executive Committee in 2016 because I wanted to contribute to a professional community that understood the work of HR and believed the profession deserved a stronger, more visible place in Sri Lanka's corporate landscape.
Earning SHRM certification early in my journey showed me the value that global standards could bring to local practice. Over the years, I have seen many more Sri Lankan HR professionals gain that certification and later had the opportunity to facilitate SHRM's Generative AI in HR workshops locally. I have also contributed to initiatives such as the HR Think Tank and helped take Bite Size Learning online when the COVID-19 pandemic transformed the way we worked.
AHRP's progress has always been a collective effort. Every member of the Executive Committee serves the Association alongside a full-time career, and every programme, certification and event depends on teams of volunteers who consistently give their time and expertise. AHRP's 25-year journey has been built by many hands.
We have also modernised the Association by digitising membership processes and refreshing the brand to reflect both our Sri Lankan identity and our future ambitions. These changes will shape how the next generation of members connects with AHRP.
As AI adoption accelerates across industries, organisational resilience will continue to depend on human leadership and culture. AHRP's role is to help build an HR profession that keeps people at the centre while embracing new tools and ways of working.
This anniversary is an opportunity to honour everyone who has shaped the Association and to look ahead with confidence. I am grateful to our members, partners and well-wishers, and excited to see the next generation of HR professionals take AHRP into its next 25 years.
