Institute of Chemistry Ceylon welcomes 2026 with unity, vision

The Institute of Chemistry Ceylon (IChemC) marked the dawn of the New Year 2026 with a cordial and uplifting celebration, bringing together staff members to reflect on achievements and embrace the opportunities ahead. The event, held on the first day of the year, fostered a sense of unity and renewed commitment towards the institute’s academic and professional goals.

The proceedings commenced with a warm address by the Dean of the College of Chemical Sciences (CCS), Prof. Chandani Perera. In her speech, she acknowledged the accomplishments of the previous year and outlined a forward-looking vision for 2026. Emphasizing innovation, academic excellence, and institutional growth, she highlighted key initiatives and important milestones planned for the year ahead, reinforcing IChemC’s role as a premier institution delivering chemistry-focused STEM education to Sri Lankan students.

Adding to the occasion, the Registrar of IChemC, Geethanjith Karunarathne, expressed his appreciation for the dedication and collective efforts of the staff. He underscored their invaluable contributions toward achieving the institute’s strategic objectives and extended his best wishes for a productive, progressive, and fulfilling year.

The celebration concluded on a traditional note with a Sri Lankan breakfast, followed by a group photograph, symbolising camaraderie and shared purpose as IChemC steps confidently into the New Year 2026.
