The Institute of Chartered Corporate Secretaries of Sri Lanka (ICCSSL) is all set to host its third convocation on Friday, 17 May 2024 at the BMICH, Colombo.

Renowned Management Consultant Sunil Wijesinha will grace the occasion joined by several distinguished guests.

More than fifty students who have completed the Institute’s rigorous professional study program and research thesis, since the last convocation ceremony held in 2020 are anticipated to be conferred with graduateship, with over forty of them earning Associate membership of the ICCSSL (ACIS). Established in 2008, ICCSSL launched its course programs in 2010 and has witnessed a steady rise in student registrations, now surpassing 800 in number. Currently, the ICCSSL boasts of a membership register exceeding 220 members with a majority of them holding Associate and Fellow membership status.

The ICCSSL examinations encompass a diverse array of subjects, equipping graduates with the requisite knowledge, competence, and confidence to thrive across various organisational landscapes, whether in business enterprises, state or private sector entities, or listed or non-listed organisations. ICCSSL graduates and members fulfil versatile roles owing to the comprehensive knowledge imparted by the program, spanning business environment, management, law, finance, capital markets regulations, company secretarial practice, and the most essential insights into corporate governance practice.

In addition to the core professional course leading to ICCSSL graduateship, the Institute introduced the Diploma in Applied Company Secretarial Applications (Dip. ACSA) program in March 2023. Tailored for legal, finance, and management professionals holding the Company Secretary’s license issued by the Registrar of Companies, this program serves both a specialised education avenue and a refresher for qualified and practicing Chartered Secretaries.

The Board of Management of ICCSSL expresses confidence in the forthcoming cohort of qualified Chartered Corporate Secretaries, viewing it as a testament to the Institute’s pivotal role in addressing a crucial professional demand with the corporate sector and the nation at large. Chartered Secretaries wield significant influence in corporate boardrooms and other pivotal divisions and areas. A considerable number of companies registered with the Registrar of Companies and those listed in the Colombo Stock Exchange have engaged Chartered Secretaries or firms managed by Chartered Secretaries, as Company Secretaries or Board Secretaries. Esteemed by society and the corporate community alike, Chartered Secretaries constitute a distinct group of professionals who are adept at navigating the challenges in their chosen field.

The current Board of Management of ICCSSL consists of President Nisha Najumudeen, Deputy President Hemali Ellawala, Vice President S. Sudarshan, Secretary Shanthi Perera, Treasurer Anuri Nandiweera, Helen De Silva, Geredene Suares, Minoli Rodrigo, Priyadharshana Wettasinghe, Heshani Fernando, Nalinda Muthukumara and Sonali Dunuwila and Wasantha Karunanayake functions as the CEO.
