Dr. Nirmal De Silva appointed to People’s Merchant Finance Board

Top business professional Dr. Nirmal De Silva has been appointed as an Independent Non-Executive Director of People’s Merchant Finance PLC.

Dr. De Silva is a multi-award-winning business professional and entrepreneur with close to two decades of ‘C Level’ experience across the world, where he has provided leadership to a number of Multinational and Fortune 500 companies. Over the last few years his focus has been on the Real Estate Industry, Strategy Consulting and Start-ups. He is currently serving as the Co-Founder ICEO of Paramount Realty.

Dr. De Silva is an Independent Non-Executive Director at the Regional Development Bank of Sri Lanka where he heads the Board IT Committee and is a member of the Board Risk Committee and Board HR and Nomination Committees of the Bank. 

In addition, Dr. De Silva serves on the board of a number of companies in the state and private sector in diverse industries such as banking, agriculture, food and beverage, technology, handicrafts, education, learning and development, facilities management, portfolio investment, professional services, digital entertainment, consumer goods and lifestyle services. He is a Board Member of Global Entrepreneurship Network (GEN) in Sri Lanka and the Lanka Impact Investing Network (LIIN).

Not only is he a well-respected thought leader, but he is also a much sought after Start up Mentor, Impact Investor, Public Speaker and Corporate Trainer. He is also an important influencer in shaping up the start -up and social enterprise ecosystem in the country. 

Dr. De Silva is a pioneer member of the revolutionary ‘Ath Pavura’ (the world’s first-ever reality TV program) which supports social enterprises through impact investments. Dr. De Silva serves as a mentor for Faster Capital in the UAB, Mentor Capital Network (MCN) in USA, Hatch in Sri Lanka and a member of the National Advisory Committee (NAC) for Entrepreneurship Ecosystem Development at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce.

On an academic front Dr. De Silva is an Associate Professor, Visiting Lecturer and Thesis Supervisor for Undergraduate and Postgraduate level programs in a number of local and international universities.

With the latest appointment the Board of People’s Merchant Finance comprises Chandula Abeywickrama (Chairman), K.R.P. Madushanka, K.R. Wijesuriya, M.J.T. Waas and M.N. De Silva. The CEO is N.H.G. Wijekoon.
