‘CMA Excellence in Integrated Reporting Awards 2021’ to recognise top 25 companies

The ‘CMA Excellence in Integrated Reporting Awards 2021’, the highlight of Annual Reporting in Sri Lanka supported by the Colombo Stock Exchange, is organised for the seventh year in succession. The awards will be presented on 11 January and will be held at Hotel Taj Samudra. 

The Awards are the Five Excellence in Integrated Reporting Awards, Overall Winner – Gold Trophy, Overall 1st Runner up – Silver Trophy, Overall 2nd Runner up – Bronze Trophy, Ten Best Integrated Reports and the Special Awards including the Integrated Thinking award sponsored by the Deakin Business School, Australia, Sector Awards and Merit Awards.

There will be Sector Awards on Integrated Reporting for Banking, Finance & Leasing, Insurance, Manufacturing Industry, Trade & Commerce, Diversified Holdings, State Owned Enterprises/Companies, Plantations, Health Care, Power & Energy, Small & Medium Enterprises, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs)/Not for Profit Organisations (NPOs)/Chambers of Commerce/Educational Institutes.

Special Awards in Integrated Reporting on Conciseness, Capitals, Materiality, Value Creation, Strategic Focus, Integrated Thinking, SDG Reporting and Diversity Reporting.

The Chief Guest at the CMA Excellence in <IR> Awards 2021 will be Central Bank of Sri Lanka Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal, who will give the Chief Guest’s address and distribute the awards to the winners. 

It is encouraging to note that 41 companies have submitted applications and were reviewed by a competent evaluation panel and an eminent panel of international and local panel of judges who will decide on the final winners. 

Some of the key speakers at the IR Awards will be Alan Johnson, the President of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), the global body for the accounting profession, Prof. Mervyn E. King, Chair Emeritus of the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC) London, the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) Amsterdam, former Judge of the Supreme Court of South Africa, Chair of the African Integrated Reporting Council and Chair of the Integrated Reporting Committee of South Africa, SEC Chairman President’s Counsel Viraj Dayaratne and SAFA President Hennayaka Bandara. 

The welcome address will be delivered by CMA Sri Lanka Founder President Prof. Lakshman R. Watawala. Other eminent speakers will include Prof. Ho Yew Kee the Chairman Panel of Judges, formerly Professor in Accounting at the National University of Singapore and currently Associate Provost (Skills Future and Staff Development) at the Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), Professor Graham Terry will give the judges report and is an integrated reporting advisor and an ambassador for the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC). He assisted CMA Sri Lanka in the establishment of the CMA Excellence in Integrated Reporting Awards in 2015 and serves on the panel of judges. Professor Colin Higgins Associate Dean International and Partnerships, Deakin Business School Melbourne Australia will also speak. 

The Colombo Stock Exchange is the ‘Supporting Partner CMA Excellence in <IR> Awards’ and will be represented by the Chairman Dumith Fernando and CEO Rajeeva Bandaranayake.

CMA CFO Excellence Awards to outstanding CFOs engaged in Integrated Reporting will be awarded for the first time.
