The Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) 2021/24 batch of the Faculty of Management and Finance, University of Colombo hosted a glamorous get-together at the Vertical by Jetwing in Colombo recently. 

It was a memorable event with the participation of University of Colombo Faculty of Management & Finance Dean Prof. M.P.P. Dharmadasa, Postgraduate and Mid-career Development Unit Coordinator Prof. B. Nishantha, DBA Program Coordinator Prof. Tharusha Gooneratne, lecturers of semesters I and II of the DBA program and the DBA 2021/2024 batch of students. It turned out a fun-filled evening with entertainment.

The University of Colombo has been a pioneer in the higher education sector in Sri Lanka for decades. It is a metropolitan university with nine leading faculties, seven institutes, as well as several centres, units, and schools under its wing. It has received international ratings as the premier university in the country.

Faculty of Management & Finance was established in May 1994 and is committed to pursuing excellence in research, teaching, consultancy, and community service while being a centre of excellence for management and finance education in Sri Lanka. 

The faculty has a wide array of academic programs with an emphasis on disciplinary rigor, business practicality, and skill development covering undergraduate, graduate, and executive education. Such programs range from MPhil/Ph.D., DBA, to Master of Business Administration (MBA) including various specialised MBAs, Executive MBA, postgraduate diplomas, undergraduate degrees, executive diplomas, and diplomas.

The DBA Program conducted by the Faculty of Management & Finance, of the University of Colombo is specially designed for senior managers and professionals in the private and public sectors possessing master's level qualifications as well as significant work experience who seek to become practitioner-researchers in their fields. The program comprises a fine blend of management theory, practice, and research.

This three-year six-semester program commences with structured coursework covering an array of important management and research methodology courses, as well as a series of workshops and seminars designed to build research competencies. The program also features a practice-oriented research project completed through the submission of a thesis on an approved topic.

Combining academic rigor and managerial relevance, the courses of the program are delivered by a panel of well-trained and qualified university academics and industry experts. Students are guided on their thesis by research supervisors with high research repute and exposure from leading institutes across the world. The program also features periodic reviews by expert panels to track progress and facilitate the ongoing research work of students.
