New leadership takes office at Association of Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes

New Governing Council of APHNH for 2025–2027 


The Association of Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes (APHNH) has announced the appointment of its new Governing Council for the 2025–2027 term. The announcement was made at the Association’s Annual General Meeting, held recently at the Waters Edge Hotel in Battaramulla. The newly elected Governing Council will be led by Ruhunu Hospital Group Chief Executive Officer Raveen Wickramasinghe who assumes office as President of APHNH. Under his leadership, the Association aims to guide the private healthcare sector through a critical phase of growth and transformation, while continuing its long-standing commitment to service excellence, collaboration, and ethical healthcare delivery.

Supporting the President are Vice Presidents Durdans Hospitals Mahanil Perera, Royal Hospital Dinesh Ranaweera, and Ninewells Hospital Dr. Vibash Wijeratne. The office bearers also include Gomez Hospital Dr. Sandamali Weerasinghe as Honorary Secretary, Medihelp Hospitals Nishantha Jayamanne as Honorary Assistant Secretary, Winlanka Hospital Dr. Chatura Weerasinghe as Honorary Treasurer, and Hemas Hospitals Prabhan Gunawardene as Honorary Assistant Treasurer. The Governing Council further comprises Dr. Ruwan Senatilleke and Dr. Sunil Rathnapreya of Asiri Hospitals, Prof. Lal Chandrasena of Nawaloka Hospital, Eng. K.A.A.P. Kuruppu Arachchi of Pannipitiya Private Hospital, Dr. Chaminda Kumara of Lanka Hospital, Dr. D.K.D. Mathew of Blue Cross Hospital, Dr. Fathima Habiba Sheriff of Western Hospital, Dr. Isshani Fernando of New Philip Hospital, Dr. Lasantha Karunasekara of Ceylon Hospitals, Dr. U. Banagala of Kings Hospital, Jayapathma Wanninayaka of Cooperative Hospital Kurunegala, Roshitta Nirooshan of Melsta Hospital, and Bathiya Angammana of Singha Hospital. Outlining his vision for the Association, Wickramasinghe stated that APHNH’s focus for the next two years will be on strengthening the private healthcare ecosystem through policy advocacy, regulatory engagement, and capacity building. He emphasised the importance of enhancing quality standards, promoting transparent communication among stakeholders, and fostering international collaborations that will elevate Sri Lanka’s healthcare delivery to global benchmarks. He further noted that private hospitals play an indispensable role in the national healthcare system and reaffirmed APHNH’s commitment to ensuring that this contribution is both recognised and strengthened.
