• Pan Audio Group subsidiary’s initiative to bring global medical expertise to Sri Lanka

The Pan Audio Group of Companies, founded in 1982, is a pioneer in Sri Lanka’s IT industry. Building on its legacy of innovation, the Group has now expanded into healthcare and education through its new venture, Lanka HealthEdu Solutions, establishing the Amrita Hospital Information Centre – Sri Lanka. 

The Centre provides advanced training, workshops, and international collaborations for medical professionals, while ensuring patients receive timely access to world-class treatments.

Central to this partnership is Amrita Hospital, Kochi, one of India’s top super-specialty hospitals. Founded in 1998 as a 125-bed facility, it has grown into a 1,400-bed state-of-the-art institution, consistently ranked among India’s top 10. A not-for-profit, it serves nearly 800,000 outpatients and 50,000 inpatients annually, blending advanced technology, medical excellence, and compassionate care.

Amrita is also home to a world-class university, ranked seventh in India and 42nd globally, recognised for excellence in medical education, research, and innovation that has set milestones in healthcare delivery while its experts lead international training and knowledge-sharing programs, raising global standards. Amrita’s ties with Sri Lanka date back to 2005, when the Mata Amritanandamayi Center pledged ₹ 3 crores (about Rs. 69 million) in tsunami relief and committed to building 300 homes for affected communities. 

The first Continuing Medical Education (CME) session under this partnership was recently held at the Jetwing Seven, Colombo, focusing on small bowel and pancreatic transplantation, a highly specialised area of medicine that has seen significant advancements in recent years.

The event featured Amrita Hospital, Kochi Head of Liver Transplantation and GI Surgery Dr. S. Sudhindran, a globally respected surgeon trained in the UK. He has led Amrita’s program with over 1,350 liver transplants, pioneering Kerala’s first liver transplant, India’s first small bowel and pancreatic transplants, and the nation’s first robotic donor resection. A former President of the Liver Transplant Society of India, he has chaired major conferences, published 150+ papers, and continues to shape organ transplantation in India and beyond.

The keynote featured a presentation on robotic surgery, followed by a panel with NHSL Colombo Consultant HPB Surgeon Dr. Prabath Kumarasinghe, and Teaching Hospital Batticaloa Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist Dr. Vadivel Vijitharan. Both experts with extensive experience in gastrointestinal and liver diseases stressed the urgent need for continuous medical education on global best practices and advanced techniques to deliver cutting-edge care and improve patient outcomes in Sri Lanka.

An Amrita Hospital Information Centre – Sri Lanka spokesperson highlighted its commitment to empowering local doctors through internationally recognised training and advanced medical knowledge. They stressed that partnerships with institutions like Amrita Hospitals are key to introducing global best practices, fostering professional development, and equipping physicians with the latest innovations—ultimately raising healthcare standards nationwide and ensuring patients access to advanced, evidence-based treatments.

The partnership between Lanka HealthEdu Solutions and Amrita Hospitals marks a major step in cross-border medical education, with upcoming CME sessions across multiple specialties offering hands-on learning, expert guidance, and exposure to advanced practices to enhance patient care in Sri Lanka. The initiative will also see Amrita doctors visiting Sri Lanka to assist in operations, providing practical support and enabling local physicians to gain direct experience with cutting-edge surgical techniques.
