INSEE Cement Donates 10,000 EPO Vaccinations for Anaemic Kidney Patients in Sri Lanka

INSEE Cement, Sri Lanka’s largest and leading cement manufacturer handed over 10,000 doses of Erythropoietin (EPO) vaccinations to the Ministry of Health today to address the shortage of medicine resulting from Sri Lanka’s current economic crisis. The donation valued at Rs. 40 million and procured and financed by Siam City Cement Public Ltd., INSEE Cement Sri Lanka’s parent company, was made by INSEE Cement Sri Lanka in response to an urgent request by the Ministry of Health on the need to treat anaemia in patients suffering from Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD), a highly prevalent condition in rural areas of the country.

The handover was graced by the Director General of Health Services of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Asela Gunawardena and Director – Medical Technology Services, Dr. Anver Hamdani, Royal Thai Embassy Ambassador Poj Harnpol and Royal Thai Embassy First Secretary Peerapat Tongrod with INSEE Cement represented by Chairman and CEO Nandana Ekenayake and Head of External Affairs and Channel Development Chandana Nanayakkara.

“We appreciate the support of the Siam City Cement Public company, Thailand in procuring of the 10,000 vaccines, from Siam Bioscience Company of Thailand, and believe that our immediate and timely response to the urgent request made by the Ministry of Health serves to address the critical medicine shortage and help save lives.” 

As an industry leader deeply rooted in the local communities in which it operates, INSEE Cement has continuously contributed to national development as well as economic and market recovery efforts and was one of the immediate respondents to national COVID-19 emergency response initiatives. More recently, INSEE Cement also helped stabilise the market from a cement scarcity by operating at maximum production capacity and optimising delivery channels to meet the market demand at the time.
