Hemas Pharmaceuticals, Sri Lanka’s Number one pharmaceutical importer and distributor for over seven decades, concluded the certificate awarding ceremony of the ‘Pharmacy Personnel Skills Development Program’ recently at Hilton Residences, honouring their second batch with 35 students. The program was launched in partnership with the Pharmaceutical Society of Sri Lanka (PSSL) with the primary goal of providing the necessary skills and knowledge to obtain national registration as a registered pharmacist in 2019.

A career development program providing a comprehensive knowledge for students aspiring to be pharmacists, the ‘Pharmacy Personnel Skills Development Program’ is presented by Hemas Pharmaceuticals in collaboration with PSSL. This provides an opportunity for aspiring candidates planning to sit for the registration exam and to obtain registration as a pharmacist by the SLMC, to attend a six-month preparatory program free of charge and ensures the industry and the community at large is supplied with well qualified pharmacists. 

The course syllabus covered Community Pharmacy Practice, Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology and Therapeutics, Pharmacy Management, Regulatory requirements, Pharmacognosy, Cold Chain Management and Customer Care Service Skills.

Commenting on the initiative, Hemas Pharmaceuticals and Hemas Surgicals and Diagnostics Managing DirectorJude Fernando stated: “It gives me great pleasure to note the conclusion of the second batch of ‘Pharmacy Personnel Skills Development’ program and reiterate our commitment to continue this program for the benefit of aspirant students and the community we serve.
